Keffi: Save Our Souls”: Angwan Nimzo Community Appeals to FG, Nasarawa Government Over Land Dispute with Arm

Residents of Angwan Nimzo community in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have appealed to the Federal Government and the Nasarawa State Government to urgently intervene in a Army land dispute involving the Nigerian Army.

The community called for a peaceful and lawful resolution of the matter, insisting that the dispute is already before a competent court of law.

Speaking through their counsel, Barrister Abubakar Abdullahi, the community alleged that residents have continued to face intimidation and harassment from personnel of the Nigerian Army despite the ongoing legal proceedings.

resident ssidents described the alleged actions as unnecessary pressure on innocent citizens who are seeking redress through constitutional and peaceful means.

According to Barrister Abdullahi, all parties involved in the dispute should allow the judicial process to run its course without interference or intimidation.

He argued that any form of harassment undermines the rule of law and infringes on the rights of citizens to pursue justice peacefully.

“The matter is already before the court, and we expect all parties to respect the judicial process. Continued intimidation will only heighten tension and weaken public confidence in the rule of law,” Abdullahi stated.

The community further appealed to relevant authorities and security agencies to ensure that no action is taken that could prejudice the case or create fear among residents.

They stressed that respectremained  process remains critical to sustaining peace, justice, and public trust in democratic institutions.

In a demonstration of commitment to peace and order, community leaders reaffirmed that they would not resort to violence or self-help despite the challenges confronting them.

“We are law-abiding citizens and will not take the law into our hands,” the leaders declared, while calling for urgent government intervention to prevent further escalation of tension in the area.

The residents noted that many families in Angwan Nimzo have lived on the disputed land for generations and appealed to the authorities to protect lives, property, and their ancestral heritage.

Observers say the calm and lawful disposition of the community reflects its determination to see the matter resolved fairly through due process and the rule of law.

Community leaders also urged the Federal Government, the Nasarawa State Government, and relevant security agencies to act swiftly in de-escalating the situation and safeguarding the community from further distress.
