Insecurity: We Have Failed Nigerians, Says Senator Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has lamented the worsening insecurity in the country, declaring that the nation’s leadership has failed Nigerians in addressing the persistent security challenges.

Mohammed the remarks during a condolence visit to Oyo State on Sunday, where he met with Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of the state over the abduction of teachers and pupils in the Ogbomosho area.

The visit to Ibadan came amid the continued captivity of the victims, who have remained in the hands of bandits and kidnappers for over one month.

While appealing to the Federal Government to intensify efforts toward securing the safe release of the victims, especially the children, Bala Mohammed commended Governor Makinde for his proactive steps aimed at rescuing the abducted teachers and pupils and reuniting them with their families.

He described Makinde as a vibrant and energetic leader committed to doing things differently and contributing meaningfully to national development.

The Bauchi governor also called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in safeguarding lives and property, stressing the urgent need for decisive action to secure the release of the victims and tackle the broader security crisis.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and security-conscious, noting that citizens must also play active roles in safeguarding their communities in view of the rising activities of criminals and bandits.

Governor Bala Mohammed further appealed to Nigerians to elect leaders who genuinely have the interest of the people at heart, especially as the country continues to grapple with deepening insecurity.

He expressed regret that the current administration has been unable to effectively address the growing security threats, leaving many Nigerians vulnerable to kidnappings, attacks, and other forms of violence.

The governor warned the Federal Government of the grave consequences of inaction and called for an urgent overhaul of the nation’s security architecture before the situation spirals further out of control.
