Stakeholders to Gov Sule: Toto Needs Projects, Not Ceremonies
Residents of Toto Local Government Area have urged the Nasarawa State Government to translate official visits into tangible development, insisting that the area deserves more than ceremonial appearances and social events.
Reports indicate that Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule is expected in Toto LGA to celebrate the birthday of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and witness the final of a football competition.
However, stakeholders say the visit presents a critical opportunity for the governor to address long-pending developmental concerns affecting the local government.
The football match is scheduled to hold on the same field where Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency and popularly known as Iyan Toto, proposed and facilitated the construction of a mini stadium aimed at empowering youths and promoting sports development in the area.
According to sources, the official approval file for the mini stadium has remained on the governor’s table for nearly two years without executive assent.
Similarly, the Higher Institution Bill sponsored by Hon. Isimbabi and transmitted for approval since May 6, 2026, is also awaiting assent.
Stakeholders note that while several projects have been commissioned across other local government areas in Nasarawa State, Toto LGA is still waiting for major government-backed infrastructure.
Residents argue that the area urgently needs investments in sports infrastructure and educational institutions to unlock the potential of its growing youth population.
“Our youths need infrastructure, not just events. Our people need institutions, not just matches,” a community source stated.
The people of Toto have welcomed Governor Sule’s visit but are appealing for concrete action that will leave a lasting impact on the community.
They specifically urged the governor to approve the mini stadium project and assent to the Higher Institution Bill, describing both as transformational initiatives capable of changing the future of the local government.
Stakeholders further praised Hon. Isimbabi for his legislative commitment, noting that he has fulfilled his responsibilities through sponsorship, facilitation, and consistent follow-up on the projects.
They stressed that the next decisive step now lies with the executive arm of government.
For many residents, the message is clear: the same field hosting a celebratory football match today should become a modern stadium that will nurture champions and inspire future generations in Toto tomorrow.
