A fresh controversy has erupted over alleged donations to the General Hospital, Umaisha, following claims by the Umaisha/Ugya lawmaker, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, that equipment he donated to the facility has been looted.
In a viral video, Sa’ad said the items were procured and donated by him to support healthcare delivery in the community.
He reportedly listed 50 orthopedic mattresses, 50 ceiling fans and 40 standing fans, insisting that the items were no longer where they were expected to be.

The allegation has, however, been challenged by some hospital workers who spoke anonymously.
The workers said the lawmaker visited the hospital in December 2023 and that the items donated during the visit included 10 ordinary student mattresses, 32 standing and ceiling fans and some solar-powered equipment.
They said the account attributed to the lawmaker did not tally with what they recalled seeing at the facility.
The development has consequently raised questions about the exact nature and quantity of the donation and whether any of the items were subsequently removed from the hospital.
Concerned stakeholders have called for a transparent investigation rather than relying solely on competing claims.
They said the authorities should scrutinise receipts, procurement records, delivery notes, hospital inventory registers and other relevant documents to determine the facts.
They further appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to allow relevant security and anti-graft agencies, including the EFCC, ICPC, DSS and Police, to investigate the matter where necessary.
According to the stakeholders, the media should also be allowed access to verified information so that the public can know what happened to the allegedly donated items.
They stressed that anyone found culpable after a proper investigation should be prosecuted in accordance with Nigerian law.
