The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a fresh grassroots mobilisation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing more than 400 support groups into its mobilisation strategy.
The party leadership, during an interface with representatives of the groups, directed them to intensify grassroots mobilisation, expand their support base and align their activities with the official structures and electoral strategy of the party.
State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the support groups represented an important part of the party’s grassroots mobilisation network.
He explained that the objective of the meeting was to create better coordination among the groups and prevent duplication of activities.
Arenyeka said the party would soon announce its campaign structure for the 2027 elections, adding that a dedicated directorate would be established to coordinate the activities of the various support groups.
He challenged the groups to move from mere meetings and political declarations to sustained interaction with voters and communities.
The APC chairman maintained that strong grassroots organisation remained crucial to winning elections.
He referenced the 2023 presidential election, saying the APC’s victory at the federal level demonstrated the importance of effective political organisation and mobilisation.
Arenyeka urged the groups to use their networks to extend the party’s reach to communities across Delta State.
The State Organising Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, similarly reminded the groups that their recognition by the party came with responsibilities.
He said the groups were partners in the APC’s political project and should not operate as parallel structures.
Egbabor urged them to promote the policies and programmes of the APC, engage voters and communicate community concerns to the party leadership.
He also advised the groups to begin early voter mobilisation, including identifying supporters, educating voters on the electoral process and maintaining regular communication with their constituencies.
He warned against spreading fake news, rumours and unverified claims, stressing that all information circulated in the name of the party must be accurate.
The meeting ended with renewed emphasis on coordination, grassroots engagement and sustained mobilisation as the APC prepares for the 2027 elections in Delta State.
