Frank Lampard Reveals Why He Signed Frank Onyeka

February 7, 20262 Mins Read

Coventry City head coach, Frank Lampard, has expressed confidence that Frank Onyeka’s experience will strengthen the club’s bid for promotion to the Premier League.

The Nigerian midfielder completed a move to Coventry from Brentford in January and could make his debut when the Sky Blues face Oxford United later at 4 p.m. later today, February 7.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Lampard highlighted the added value Frank Onyeka brings to the squad, particularly in midfield.

“He brings a different quality and probably a different profile to the midfield players we have,” Lampard said.

“As I say, the profile is slightly different and I think that helps us in terms of the options and the competition in the middle of the park for us.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been named Nottingham Forest’s Goal of the Month winner for January after scoring a standout goal in the club’s 2-0 victory over Brentford.

The forward earned the accolade for his composed finish late in the match, latching onto a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White before driving into Brentford’s penalty area and firing past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The goal marked Awoniyi’s first of the season for the Tricky Trees and was selected ahead of seven other nominated strikes.

The 28-year-old has made just league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season as he continues to work his way back into regular action.
