February 8, 20262 Mins Read

The family of late singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has released her funeral arrangements following her tragic death on January 31, 2026, after a fatal snakebite at her residence in Abuja.

Naija News recalls that Nanyah was rushed to the hospital after the incident, but sadly did not survive. Her sudden passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, friends, and colleagues in Nigeria’s music community.

Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, confirmed the funeral plans via his Instagram handle @official_kaybaba1, where he posted her obituary alongside a heartfelt tribute, “Till I see you again.”

According to the family’s statement, a service of songs will be held on February 10 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos, starting at 4 p.m., followed by a requiem mass at 6 p.m. at the same venue.

“Ifunanya will be laid to rest in her hometown in Enugu State on February 14, 2026, while a thanksgiving service to celebrate her life and legacy has been scheduled for February 15,” the family announced.

In a touching show of solidarity, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir held a tribute concert for Nanyah at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The programme, titled “Tribute and Songs,” was dedicated to honouring her contribution to the capital’s music scene.

According to choir members, her remains have already been transported to Enugu State, where her father resides.

The choir described her death as a huge loss to Abuja’s growing classical and contemporary music community.
