Real Madrid have broken two major scoring records in LaLiga this season, highlighting their attacking variety.

According to OptaJose, Los Blancos are now the team with the most goals scored from elaborate attacking moves, with eight, and from set pieces, with 17, across the league campaign. The figures highlight a side capable of creating goals through both structured build-up play and dead-ball situations.

Only Villarreal, with eight goals, have scored more from counter-attacks than Real Madrid, who have netted seven on the break so far this season.

The latest milestone follows Madrid’s 2-0 win over Valencia at Mestalla Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Álvaro Carreras and Kylian Mbappe secured all three points for Álvaro Arbeloa’s side, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the league title.

After 23 matches, Real Madrid sit just one point behind league leaders Barcelona and will host Real Sociedad in their next LaLiga fixture on Saturday.

Meanwhile, speculation over Real Madrid’s managerial future continues to build, with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly outlining five conditions before considering a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Klopp has been out of frontline management since stepping down from Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season. He has since taken on a role with the Red Bull Group as Head of Global Soccer, but reports suggest a return to the dugout could be on the horizon.

Sky Sports reported in January that Klopp is among the names being considered should Real Madrid decide to appoint a new head coach in the summer of 2026.

Following Xabi Alonso’s departure last month, former Real Madrid right-back Álvaro Arbeloa was promoted from the reserve team and has guided the club to four consecutive league wins against Levante, Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano and Valencia.

Spanish outlet MARCA recently suggested Arbeloa’s contract extends beyond the current season, writing: “Information obtained by this newspaper suggests a one-year, one-year contract, confirming the club’s commitment to Arbeloa as the first-team manager. The plan is for him to continue leading the team after the current season ends, unless the sporting director and the president decide that the established objectives have not been met and terminate his contract.”

Despite that vote of confidence, Klopp remains a high-profile option due to his track record, including domestic titles in England and Germany and a Champions League triumph with Liverpool in 2019.

Defensa Central claims the German coach has asked for the signing of two centre-backs, two midfielders and the return of Brazilian teenager Endrick, who is currently on loan at Lyon for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

While Klopp has not publicly named specific transfer targets, the report lists Kees Smit, Adam Wharton, Nico Schlotterbeck and Jacobo Ramon among potential recruits.

The same outlet suggests Arbeloa’s long-term future may depend on Real Madrid’s performances and whether the club secures silverware this season.
