A significant chapter has opened in Nigeria’s educational development as Barrister Onoja Ogwu, SAN, commenced the official site clearing ceremony for his newly licensed private institution — Forte Lugard University, Abuja — on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Apo axis of the Federal Capital Territory.
The event attracted distinguished personalities, legal luminaries, and well-wishers from all walks of life, who gathered to witness the foundation of what promises to be a world-class center of learning and leadership. Among the guests was his longtime friend and ally, the Managing Director/CEO of Anarock Global Services Limited, Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah.
Barr. Ogwu, a highly respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria, described Forte Lugard University as a dream born out of passion for education, character formation, and nation-building. He expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the regulatory authorities, especially the National Universities Commission (NUC), for granting him the license to bring this vision to life.
In a moment filled with joy and purpose, the crowd watched as bulldozers roared to life, clearing the path for the future of thousands of young Nigerians who will one day walk the grounds of Forte Lugard University in search of knowledge, innovation, and excellence.
Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah, while speaking at the event, commended his friend for embarking on such a visionary project. “This is not just a university — this is a gift to generations,” he said. “Barrister Ogwu has always believed in raising minds that can change the world. Today is proof of that conviction.”
The clearing ceremony marks the beginning of site development, with full construction set to begin in the weeks ahead. Stakeholders and supporters are optimistic that Forte Lugard University will soon become a beacon of academic distinction in Nigeria and beyond.
Indeed, with visionaries like Barr. Onoja Ogwu, SAN, at the helm, the future of Nigerian education looks promising.
