AREWA YOUTHS FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE MOURNS THE PASSING OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of national loss that the Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence (AYPC) mourns the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who died on Saturday, July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 82.

President Buhari was a quintessential patriot, a disciplined leader, and a moral compass in Nigeria’s political evolution. From his early days as a military Head of State (1983–1985) to his two-term presidency (2015–2023), he remained resolute in his fight against corruption, his pursuit of national unity, and his commitment to public service anchored on transparency and sacrifice.

The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence stands in solidarity with his family, the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the entire people of Nigeria during this moment of mourning. We acknowledge the pivotal role President Buhari played in shaping the political consciousness of Northern youths and restoring national pride at difficult moments in our history.

As a son of the North and a leader of all, his legacy will continue to inspire generations—especially those of us committed to peaceful coexistence, unity, and nation-building. His famous words, “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody,” remain a guiding principle for equitable leadership and national service.
