Abuja, April 26, 2025 — The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence have lauded the recent defection of key political leaders in Delta State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a bold endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a press briefing held at the group’s Abuja office on Saturday, the National President, Bature Haruna, alongside the FCT Coordinator, Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah, praised former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, incumbent Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, members of the Delta State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and other political stakeholders for what they termed a “landmark decision.”
“This homecoming is more than a political realignment; it is a strategic and symbolic endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the group said. “Delta is now home, and together we will build a better future for our great nation.”
The Arewa Youths called on other South-South states, particularly Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa, to take similar steps, urging their governors to align with the progressive vision of the Tinubu administration. The message also extended to governors of Oyo and Osun States, described as kinsmen of the President, as well as the leaders of Enugu and Abia States.
The group also sent a message to northern governors still in opposition, urging them to embrace the President’s developmental vision without delay. “Progress waits for no one. Let us rise above partisanship and focus on national interest,” the statement read.
In a notable political appeal, the group addressed the ongoing rift in Rivers State, urging suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara to reconcile with his political mentor, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. “Wike’s instrumental role in Governor Fubara’s emergence cannot be ignored. Political legacy is best preserved through loyalty and unity of purpose,” they said.
Commending the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the group highlighted his strategic leadership, noting that under his watch, the party secured victory in four out of the five off-season governorship elections. “This underscores the organizational discipline and winning acumen of the Ganduje-led APC,” they remarked.
President Tinubu’s achievements in just two years were also praised, with the Arewa Youths listing key milestones such as:
The removal of fuel subsidy, freeing up funds for infrastructure.
Unification of the forex market.
Major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
Security reforms and military upgrades.
Youth empowerment and digital skills initiatives.
Student loan implementation.
Expansion of social investment programs.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering measurable results. With increased unity among states and political leaders, Nigeria’s journey to greatness can be fast-tracked,” the group concluded.
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Long Live the All Progressives Congress (APC).
