The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged Governor Hyacinth Alia to give residents a detailed account of public funds received and expended under his administration rather than embarking on what it described as a “Thank-You Tour.”
The party made the demand in a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Bright Yima Antyo, on August 28, 2026.
The PDP alleged that Benue State had received over ₦1 trillion from federal allocations, internally generated revenue, loans and foreign grants during the period under review.

It said the alleged revenue inflows should prompt a transparent presentation of government finances and project implementation.
The opposition party demanded details of the amount accrued to the state and local governments, projects completed, expenditure on individual projects and the measurable benefits delivered to citizens.
According to the PDP, many communities still contend with poor roads, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, unemployment and insecurity despite the revenue inflows it cited.
The party said the people of Benue deserve more than political rallies and government publicity, insisting that development should be assessed through tangible outcomes.
It argued that residents should be able to identify functioning health facilities, improved schools, accessible roads, secure communities and economic opportunities as evidence of government performance.
The PDP also questioned the purpose of the governor’s Thank-You Tour, particularly against the backdrop of security challenges and displacement affecting some communities.
While criticising the administration, the party urged citizens to exercise their right to demand accountability peacefully and within the framework of the law.
The allegations contained in the statement are those of the Benue PDP and were not independently verified in the statement.
