In the heart of Kogi State lies Agbeji, a quiet, rural village where the rhythm of life is set by the seasons and the soil. It was here, in this modest community, that my story began—shaped by the calloused hands and resilient spirit of my parents, who, despite never stepping into a classroom themselves, believed wholeheartedly in the power of education.
My parents were subsistence farmers, rising early each day to tend to the fields. They understood hardship but carried within them a deep sense of purpose. Though formal education had eluded them, they were determined that I would have opportunities they never did. It was their sacrifices, prayers, and unwavering belief in my potential that lit the path for my journey.
I took my first academic steps at Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) Primary School in Agbeji. It was there that the seeds of ambition were sown. My parents’ insistence on diligence and discipline guided me through these formative years. Upon completing primary school, I advanced to Agbeji Grammar School, where I continued to excel and dream of a future far beyond the boundaries of our village.
After secondary school, I enrolled in a School of Preliminary Studies and successfully obtained my A-level certificate. This achievement became a stepping stone towards my lifelong dream—to become a medical doctor. It was not an easy path, but I was driven by a vision nurtured by my parents’ sacrifices and the belief that my background would not define my future.
With gratitude in my heart, I gained admission to the University of Jos, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine. The journey was filled with late nights, difficult exams, and emotional trials, but I remained focused, guided by my faith and the hopes of my family. Following the completion of my undergraduate studies, I was privileged to continue my training at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Years of rigorous training, sleepless nights, and unshakable perseverance culminated in my recognition as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. This milestone was not merely a professional achievement—it was a dream fulfilled, an answer to countless prayers, and a tribute to my parents’ vision.
As I reflect on this journey, my heart overflows with gratitude. I am especially thankful for my father, whose resilience continues to inspire me. I pray that God grants him health and peace in his remaining years. To my beloved mother, who has journeyed to eternity, I offer my deepest prayers. Her memory remains a guiding light, fueling my passion and purpose.
My journey—from the farmlands of Agbeji to the consulting rooms of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja—is a testament to what is possible with faith in God, determination, and hard work. I share my story to inspire others, particularly those who may feel limited by their backgrounds or circumstances. Never underestimate the power of belief—both in God and in oneself.
In every village child lies the potential for greatness. I am living proof that with the right support, a strong will, and divine grace, no dream is too distant.
