As Nigeria marks yet another Democracy Day, Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah, the Kogi State Coordinator for National Agenda for Tinubu 2027 has joined millions of citizens in celebrating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a symbol of resilience and an enduring figure in the nation’s fight for democracy.
In a goodwill message commemorating the day, Hon. Ogah highlighted President Tinubu’s sacrifices during Nigeria’s struggle against military dictatorship, noting that his years in exile and unwavering support for pro-democracy movements helped pave the way for the nation’s current democratic structure.
“President Tinubu did not just support democracy—he embodied it. He endured persecution, forfeited comfort, and stood firm when it was most dangerous to do so. His journey from exile to the highest seat in the land is nothing short of historic,” Ogah remarked.
Referencing the pivotal events surrounding the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Hon. Ogah described Tinubu’s role within the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) as instrumental to sustaining the pro-democracy flame during one of Nigeria’s darkest political periods.
“Tinubu was not just a participant; he was a pillar of resistance. His resources, voice, and courage helped preserve the democratic dream when many lost hope,” he said.
Hon. Ogah emphasized that June 12 should not merely be seen as a day of remembrance, but as a call to action for leaders and citizens alike to uphold democratic values of equity, justice, and freedom—principles Tinubu has long championed.
He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to study and learn from the president’s political journey, stressing that democracy requires sacrifice, consistency, and faith in the will of the people.
“President Tinubu’s life story is a testimony that courage and conviction can change the course of history. Today, we salute not just the man, but the mission he continues to pursue,” Ogah concluded.
