Press Release
With a heavy heart and deep sense of national grief, I, Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah, extend my sincere condolences to the immediate family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, the government and people of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) political family, and indeed the global community that admired his legacy.
The passing of President Buhari on Saturday, July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 82, is not just a loss to his family or Katsina State, but to the nation he served with devotion, and the political movement he helped to shape.
President Buhari was a symbol of discipline, selflessness, and patriotism. His years as Head of State (1983–1985) and later as a democratically elected President (2015–2023) were marked by a relentless pursuit of national unity, a tough stance against corruption, and a firm belief in public accountability.
As a founding pillar of the APC, his ideals, courage, and leadership contributed immensely to the shaping of the party and its rise to national prominence. His presence will be sorely missed in the nation’s political space and in the hearts of those who admired his quiet strength and commitment to Nigeria’s progress.
I stand in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC leadership, and all Nigerians during this period of mourning. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant the departed eternal rest in Al Jannah Firdaus, and give comfort to his family and all who mourn his passing.
Adieu, Baba. Your footprints remain deeply rooted in the soul of the nation.
Signed:
Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah
