Idah, Kogi State — June 3, 2025

In a moment of light-hearted camaraderie laced with deep political affirmation, Hon. Friday Idachaba, a respected chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah as “the Major Boy” of Kogi politics — a fitting response to an earlier royal remark made by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed Yakubu, the Ejeh of Ankpa, who called Major Mark “a worthy son.”

The exchange took place at Hon. Idachaba’s residence in Idah shortly after the official flag-off of the 7.2km Idah Township Road Project, an infrastructural milestone flagged off by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Speaking during an informal interaction among traditional leaders, party stakeholders, and community members, the Ejeh of Ankpa had praised Major Mark for his “unwavering commitment to the development of Igala land, loyalty to the APC, and grassroots-oriented leadership.”

In response, Hon. Friday Idachaba smiled and replied:

“Yes, Your Royal Highness. Major Mark is not just a worthy son — he is the Major Boy. He is dependable, always available for the people, and never shies away from responsibility.”

The phrase “Major Boy” quickly caught on among attendees, used repeatedly to highlight the bold, youth-friendly and service-driven political style of Hon. Mark Ogah, who is widely regarded as one of the rising figures in Kogi East.

The event, which followed the road project’s groundbreaking, became more than just a celebration of infrastructure — it turned into a platform for appreciating loyal party men who have continued to bridge the gap between government and the grassroots.

Reacting to the royal praise and Hon. Idachaba’s remarks, Hon. Mark Ogah expressed humility and renewed commitment:

“To hear these words from my leaders and elders means a great deal. I don’t take it for granted. I remain committed to the mission of good governance under His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Political analysts believe such endorsements from both traditional and political institutions indicate that Hon. Mark Ogah’s influence is growing, especially as the APC consolidates its presence in Kogi East.
