2027 Drama: Attempt to Arrest Toto Youths Strange, Most Unfortunate — Group Warns Unscrupulous Politicians

A group under the aegis of Youths Shall Group has condemned the alleged attempt to arrest some youths in Toto Local Government Area, describing the move as strange, cowardly, and one of the most unfortunate developments in the political history of the area.

The group revealed an alleged plot to frame some Toto youths with phantom charges over the independent political choices they have made ahead of the 2027 elections, warning those behind the move to reconsider their actions, especially as the current administration is gradually winding down.

Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Monday, the leader of the group, Abdullahi Abdulrahman, said the group had received credible information about plans by some unscrupulous politicians to blackmail and orchestrate the arrest of vibrant youths in Toto ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described those allegedly involved as political cowards who have failed to offer meaningful leadership or tangible achievements to the people.

According to Abdulrahman, the primary targets are young people whose only offence was demanding a free, fair, and credible All Progressives Congress primary election in the area.

He alleged that those behind the plot are attempting to prove a point after failing to deliver on their promises, especially as many youths have distanced themselves from such politicians and chosen a different political path.

The group also expressed appreciation to security personnel who reportedly refused to be used as instruments for what they described as a dirty political agenda. They vowed that those behind the alleged plot would eventually be exposed so the people of Toto can identify their true enemies.

“We have seen the list compiled for the arrest of young people from Toto. The most painful part is that these same youths stood under the scorching sun to support the defunct CPC, APC, and the present administration when those plotting against them were still in the opposition,” Abdulrahman said.

He further stated that the group would continue to make the alleged plot public so that the people remain informed.

“We want the people to know that we are fully aware of their plans. We will remind such individuals after the elections that government is a continuous process—administrations come and go.”

The group described the list of affected youths as both embarrassing and shameful, urging politicians in the area to embrace issue-based politics rather than intimidation and persecution of young people.
