The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its women-focused mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Presidential Campaign Council’s Women Mobilisation Directorate announcing a target of nearly 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The announcement was made by Dr Betta Edu during a stakeholder visit to Kaduna State, where she led a delegation of prominent women in the APC to meet Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.
The visit came ahead of the party’s planned presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna, with Balarabe serving as chairperson of the Local Organising Committee.

Edu said the Directorate was committed to building a broad grassroots network capable of communicating the administration’s policies and persuading voters to support the APC in 2027.
She explained that women would remain central to the party’s mobilisation strategy because of their influence within families, markets, communities and local organisations.
According to her, the campaign would go beyond rallies and political meetings to include house-to-house visits, market engagements and direct consultations with women.
“Our plan as the PCC mobilisation directorate is to see that we can mobilise at least close to 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we cannot do this without getting down to the grassroots,” Edu said.
She also defended the administration’s reform direction, expressing the view that the difficult period of economic adjustment would give way to greater prosperity if Tinubu secured another term.
“We have gone through the reform phase already. Now it is time for prosperity. We are already at the gate of prosperity,” she said.
Edu called on women leaders across Kaduna and the North-West to adopt peaceful and persuasive campaign methods, warning against intimidation or coercion in political engagement.

She said the objective was to explain government policies, engage voters respectfully and encourage informed electoral participation.
The delegation included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Hon. Scholastica Ben-Sor, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi and Hon. Ada Ode, among other officials.
Edu commended Governor Uba Sani’s administration for its reported investments in roads, public transportation and primary healthcare. She also acknowledged Balarabe’s historic position as the first woman elected deputy governor of Kaduna State.
In her response, Balarabe said the state government was taking preparations for the campaign flag-off seriously and had held coordination meetings to ensure effective organisation.
She asked the Directorate to cooperate with the LOC and other stakeholders, adding that the mobilisation effort should continue beyond the campaign launch and translate into meaningful participation during the elections.
“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side, women are reliable,” she said.
Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu also addressed journalists in Hausa, highlighting grassroots engagement and expressing confidence in the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
The Kaduna engagement is part of a wider mobilisation programme involving market visits, hospital outreach, consultations with women stakeholders and meetings with political leaders.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the Directorate is positioning grassroots communication and women’s participation as key elements of its strategy to promote the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
