“Wike Parades Two Birthdays, No Known Court Victories as Lawyer,” Alleges Sowore

Renowned activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has ignited fresh controversy over the personal and professional background of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, by alleging that the prominent politician operates with two conflicting birthdays and lacks any verifiable record of courtroom victories despite his celebrated legal credentials.

In a viral video circulated by TV Platinum, Sowore delved into what he described as the murky details surrounding Wike’s age and career, questioning the authenticity of widely circulated narratives about the FCT minister’s timeline.

He pointed out the persistent ambiguity over Wike’s actual date of birth, insisting that the politician maintains dual birthdays that have never been satisfactorily clarified to the public.

“I Called FCT Minister Wike on Phone, Told Him I Wanted to See Him in His Office, He Said ‘No, No, Don’t Come Here,” Senator Kingibe Cries Out

Sowore further lampooned Wike’s reputation as a lawyer, asserting that despite the frequent invocation of his legal qualifications in political discourse, there is no documented instance of any case personally won by Wike in court as a practising advocate.

Putting the allegations in stark terms, Sowore declared: “Nyesom Wike has two birthdays as a person. Nobody can tell you that this is the year Wike graduated from law school. Everybody is just saying that Wike is a lawyer and you cannot hear any case that Wike has ever won before as a lawyer.”

The activist’s remarks, delivered with characteristic bluntness, come amid ongoing political tensions in Abuja, where Wike’s high-profile role in the FCT administration has frequently drawn scrutiny from opposition figures and civil society groups over governance style, land allocations, and inter-party rivalries within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and beyond.

Sowore, who contested the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections under the AAC banner and has long positioned himself as a fierce critic of Nigeria’s political elite, used the platform to challenge the foundations of Wike’s public persona, urging Nigerians to demand transparency on such foundational details.

Neither Wike’s office nor his media team had responded to the claims at the time of filing this report, though past similar accusations have often been dismissed by the minister’s handlers as distractions from his developmental achievements in the FCT, including infrastructure projects and urban renewal initiatives.
