Kogi East Youths Rally Behind Erico for 2027 Senate Race

Youth groups across key local government areas in Kogi East have thrown their weight behind Dr. Joe Erico ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, describing him as the most credible and widely accepted candidate to represent the district at the National Assembly.

The endorsement, which came from youths in Dekina, Idah, Ibaji and Ofu, followed a series of meetings and consultations held in different parts of the district.

The groups portrayed Dr. Erico as a grassroots politician with a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people, noting that his longstanding relationship with communities has earned him widespread trust.

According to them, Kogi East is in need of purposeful leadership anchored on vision, accessibility and a firm commitment to development, qualities they said the aspirant has consistently demonstrated over the years.

Speaking on behalf of the groups, some youth leaders stressed that the district can no longer afford ineffective representation, insisting that the 2027 polls must produce a senator capable of attracting tangible development, empowering young people and amplifying the voice of the region at the national level.

They also called on political stakeholders, party leaders and other influential figures to align with the aspirations of the people by supporting Dr. Erico’s emergence as a consensus candidate for the senatorial contest.

The youths further pledged to mobilise support across communities in Kogi East to ensure broad acceptance of his candidature as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Observers believe the growing wave of youth endorsement across the district could significantly shape early political dynamics in Kogi State as aspirants intensify consultations ahead of the next election cycle.
