The City Boy Movement, Kogi State Chapter, has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its performance in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election, describing the party’s 444,815 votes as a strong foundation for future political consolidation.

The movement also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his commitment to ensuring free, fair and credible elections in the country.

In a statement signed by Hon. Mark Ogah Okpanachi, Director, City Boy Movement, Kogi Chapter, the group said the outcome of the election should not be viewed solely as a defeat for the APC, but as an opportunity for reflection, strategic rebuilding and stronger grassroots mobilisation.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord won the election with 511,067 votes, while the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 17,180 votes.

According to Okpanachi, the APC’s performance demonstrated that the party retains a substantial support base in Osun State.

“While everyone is understandably focused on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory, the figures tell another important story. The 444,815 votes secured by our candidate is not a small number.

“It represents hundreds of thousands of Osun people who stood with the APC, and it is a clear indication that the party has a substantial base to build upon,” he said.

The City Boy Movement director said the APC must now return to the drawing board, listen more closely to the people, strengthen its grassroots structures and build on the support demonstrated by voters across the state.

Okpanachi particularly commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who is the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Kogi State Chapter, for his contributions and support towards the Osun APC campaign.

He also praised APC national leaders, especially Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for his commitment, sacrifice and efforts towards strengthening the party and Nigeria’s democratic process.

The group further commended the entire City Boy Movement team for its mobilisation and support for the Osun APC campaign, noting that the movement had demonstrated its commitment to the party beyond political rhetoric.

Okpanachi acknowledged the leadership of the movement’s National Director-General, Hon. Shoga Francis Oluwatosin, saying the organisation had continued to operate as a grassroots force committed to the APC project.

He also appreciated APC leaders, party executives, stakeholders, campaign coordinators, volunteers and members who contributed their time, resources and energy to the campaign.

“We may not have achieved the desired outcome this time, but the resilience displayed by Osun APC is worthy of commendation.

“The party must now return to the drawing board, listen more closely to the people, strengthen its grassroots structures and build on the 444,815 votes secured,” he said.

The City Boy Movement further urged party members to remain committed to the APC and democracy, stressing that elections come and go but the lessons and sacrifices made during political campaigns remain important for future victories.

Okpanachi said the movement would continue to support the APC and contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening democracy and promoting national development.

“The work continues. The lessons must be learned. The structures must be strengthened. And our commitment to APC, democracy and the progress of Nigeria remains unwavering,” he added.
