The Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has stepped up grassroots engagement with women across Nigeria as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.

The exercise is being conducted under the leadership structure of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and is focused on strengthening women’s participation in the campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

The mobilisation has been publicly associated with an ambitious target of 40 million women votes.

The strategy centres on community and ward-level meetings, with organisers seeking to establish sustained communication networks among women ahead of the election.

Nigeria has 176,846 polling units nationwide, according to INEC.

Recent reports have documented mobilisation activities in Kwara South, where thousands of women reportedly gathered in Offa as part of the wider campaign.

Similar engagements have been reported in parts of northern and southern Nigeria, with organisers pointing to activities in Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Imo, Cross River, Oyo, Ondo, Rivers and Osun states.

The campaign has also focused on issues relating to household welfare, education and economic empowerment.

NELFUND says its student-loan programme can provide funding for institutional fees and upkeep, subject to verification and applicable conditions.

Women involved in the mobilisation have also referenced empowerment programmes linked to the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady.

The APC’s mobilisation drive is unfolding against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 election.

INEC lists January 16, 2027, as the date for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

While APC supporters are expressing confidence in their campaign, the election outcome will ultimately be determined by voters and the official electoral process.
