ADC Official Yusuf Musa Alleges Selective Discipline, Demands Fairness in Lafia Chapter

The Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Hon. Musa Yusuf Musa, has accused the party’s local leadership of applying disciplinary measures selectively and called for greater fairness, inclusiveness and adherence to internal democracy.

In an open letter addressed to the Lafia LGA Chairman of the party, Hon. Godiya Asoloko, Musa alleged that he was removed from the official ADC Lafia WhatsApp platform because of his support for governorship aspirant, Barr. Muhammad H. Abdullahi (MHA).

He claimed that despite reporting the matter to the local government chairman, no action had been taken nearly two weeks later to address his complaint.

The party official questioned what he described as unequal treatment of members, alleging that other executive officers who openly support different governorship aspirants had not faced similar sanctions.

According to him, if party officials are expected to remain neutral during the party’s internal political process, such a principle should be applied uniformly to all members.

Musa also questioned the authority under which one executive member could remove another from the party’s official communication platform without due process, while calling on the leadership to explain the basis for what he described as selective disciplinary action.

Beyond the disciplinary issue, the deputy spokesperson expressed concern over what he described as an imbalance in the composition of the Lafia LGA executive committee. He argued that the leadership structure should better reflect the ethnic diversity of the local government, which comprises Eggon, Alago, Hausa, Kanuri, Migili, Gwandara and other communities.

He maintained that his appeal was not intended as an attack on any ethnic or religious group but was aimed at promoting equity, inclusiveness and balanced representation within the party.

Musa further stated that his position was not motivated by personal ambition or the desire to retain any office, stressing that his support for Barr. Muhammad H. Abdullahi was based on personal political conviction.

He called on the Lafia LGA leadership, the Nasarawa State Working Committee and the National Working Committee of the ADC to investigate the issues raised and ensure that justice, fairness, due process and internal democracy are upheld within the party.

According to him, building a united and inclusive party remains essential to the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE LAFIA LGA CHAIRMAN OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC), HON. GODIYA ASOLOKO.

Dear Hon. Godiya Asoloko,

I write this public Letter to express my deep concern over what I believe is unfair treatment and selective application of party discipline, under your watch, within the Lafia Local Government chapter of our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

As the duly recognized Deputy Public Relations Officer of ADC Lafia LGA, I was removed from the official Lafia LGA WhatsApp platform simply because of my open support for Barr. Muhammad H. Abdullahi (MHA). I brought this matter to your attention and patiently awaited your intervention as the Local Government Chairman, but unfortunately, almost two weeks no action was taken.

This raises important questions. Is supporting one governorship aspirant now an offence? If so, why are several other executive members who openly support GNA and another aspirants allowed to remain on the platform without any sanction? If party officials are expected to be neutral, then that principle should apply equally to everyone.

For example, the Lafia LGA PRO, Roland Akpu is publicly known to be actively as GNA lafia LGA campaign coordinator. Likewise, other executive members have openly identified with their preferred aspirants. Yet, none of them has been removed from the platform or subjected to disciplinary measures, it’s because you are also working for GNA?.

I therefore respectfully ask:

1- Under which provision of the ADC Constitution can one executive officer remove another executive officer from the official party platform without due process?

2- Why is disciplinary action applied selectively?

3- What steps will the Lafia LGA leadership take to restore confidence in fairness, neutrality, and internal democracy?

Beyond this issue, I also believe it is important to review the composition of the Lafia LGA executive. Lafia is a diverse local government made up of many ethnic groups, including Eggon, Alago, Hausa, Kanuri, Migili, Gwandara, and others, but why the 60 percent executive goes to one tribe ?. The leadership structure should reflect this diversity so that every member feels represented and included.

This is not an attack on any ethnic or religious group. Rather, it is a sincere appeal for inclusiveness, equity, and balanced representation within our party. A political party grows stronger when every community sees itself as an equal stakeholder.

I wish to make it clear that this Open Letter is not driven by personal ambition or attachment to any office. My commitment remains to the progress of the ADC and to the aspiration of my boss, mentor and political leader, Barr. Muhammad H. Abdullahi (MHA), whom I support based on my political conviction.

I respectfully call on the Lafia LGA leadership, the Nasarawa State Working Committee, and the National Working Committee of the ADC to carefully examine these concerns and ensure that justice, fairness, due process, and internal democracy prevail.

A united and inclusive ADC is the only path to victory in the 2027 elections. Let us build a party where every member is treated equally under the constitution, regardless of the aspirant they support.
