Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is the only political party capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges, urging voters in the Federal Capital Territory to rally behind the party in the forthcoming local council elections.

Naija News reports that Atiku made the declaration on Thursday while campaigning for the ADC chairmanship aspirant for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Dr Moses Paul, ahead of the February 21 FCT Area Council polls.

The former presidential candidate disclosed that he joined the ADC campaign train in parts of AMAC, with the first stop at Apo Wasa, where he interacted with residents and supporters of the party.

“This morning, I gladly joined the campaign trail of Dr Moses Paul (Dr Mo), the ADC AMAC Chairmanship Candidate in the February 21 FCT Local Council elections. Our first port of call was Apo Wasa,” Atiku said in a terse statement on Thursday morning via his official 𝕏 handle.

He described the candidate as a youth-oriented leader with the capacity to connect with residents and reposition the council.

“Dr Mo is the kind of Nigerian young people in Abuja can relate to and trust with the future of the Municipal Council,” he added.

Atiku urged voters across the FCT, particularly in AMAC, to support ADC candidates at the polls, noting that the election presents an opportunity to begin political change from the grassroots.

“I encourage FCT voters, including those in AMAC, to vote for all ADC candidates in these elections. This would be the first step towards ousting the failed APC government,” he stated.

Reaffirming his confidence in the party, the former Vice President said the ADC represents the most credible platform to reposition the country and address its pressing socio-economic and political challenges.

“ADC is undoubtedly the party that will salvage Nigeria, and the surest bet is to start with Dr Mo and AMAC,” Atiku added.
