Benin Golf Club’s Image Tarnished as Fraud Allegations Emerge Against Lawyers

Few months ago, it was Barr Emmanuel Usoh who was involved in fraudulent practices by writing a letter of non indebtedness to Benin Club golf section electoral committee chaired by past Captain Osagie Nehikhare while he was owning the section #288,500 and equally coverting #1.5M budgetted for the repairs of a sienna bus for personal use.
Barr Emmanuel Usoh is now running everywhere in Edo to be made a Judge of the high court which is ment for people with unblemished records
These allegations were initially hidden by the Captain of the section Stephen Ebaretonbofa by setting up a committee headed by Barr Lawson Ugiagbe with Barr Ugbodi as the secretary and cleared Barr Emmanuel Usoh who converted money appropriated for the repairs of the section’s Sienna bus for personal use under questionable circumstances without verifying facts presented and the person petitioned AVM Aliyu already confessed in a sworn affidavit that the fraud was actually carried out.
Air Vice Marshal Al-Hassan Aliyu rtd, wrote a petition about the fraud to the Textile Mill Road Police Station against Zika Umoru, the whistleblower, who presented evidence of Emmanuel Usoh’s involvement and culpability in the misappropriation of the section’s funds.
While the investigation was on going, the Captain, Stephen Ebaretonbofa, presented a report allegedly clearing Barr. Usoh of any fraud in the repairs of the Sienna bus.
Surprisingly, the police has not informed this alleged clearance to Air Vice Marshal Al-Hassan Aliyu who reported the whistleblower.
The police has also not deemed it fit to charge the whistleblower for Public Mischief/False Reporting to Authorities, or conspiracy to Bring False Accusation against Barr. Usoh.
Zika Umoru has dared Barr. Usoh to sue him since the police has cleared him of any complicity.
Emmanuel Usoh authorized the section’s accountant Mr Emmanuel Aondoaver to transfer the sum of #1,500,000 to him is Lobbying be a high court judge in Edo State.
AVM Al-Hassan Aliyu rtd has approached an Edo State High Court to determine his suspension after being tried in absentia based on a provision which is not in the section’s bye-laws.
The funny aspect of this development is that all cases concerning Benin Club is being referred to the Alternative dispute Resolution ADR by the Chief Judge of Edo state by Hon Justice Daniel Okungbowa and this is causing substantial delays in all the cases concerning Benin club
More importantly, the provisions seeks to deny him justice in the court which is unconditional and ulta-vires.
This amount was transferred from the section’s Unity bank account to the accountant personal Unity bank who in turn transferred same to his Zenith Bank account from where the money was transferred
AVM Hassan Aliyu has in turn approached the Edo state high court to present details of this messy and fraudulent practices at the golf section of Benin club which is being hidden from the public
In another development, another lawyer Victor Oriasotie who is allegedly being accused of inordinate affairs with stewards and other ladies in the section by some members has been caught in another wave of fraud.
This wave of fraud has led to the discovery of how Victor Oriasotie sold land he bought for people without their knowledge. A lawyer who is familiar with the fraud and also a member of Benin Club, told our reporter in confidence that Victor Oriasotie is likely to face a jail term over this breach of trust and will definitely be debarred by the Nigeria Bar Association over this fraud.
In 2023 a viral WhatsApp audio was circulated by a former steward at Benin Club Golf Secton where Victor Oriasotie was heard threatening her and equally talking of how another lady (Obadigie) who was working with FIRS Benin died for claiming he impregnated her.
