Delta 2027: Ogboru Emerges ADC Governorship Candidate

Former governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, has emerged as the governorship flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ogboru secured the party’s ticket after defeating his rival, Dr. Emmanuel Unuafe, in the governorship primary conducted by the party across the state.

The primary elections, which covered the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions, were concluded at the ADC State Secretariat in Asaba.

Announcing the results on Monday, Chairman of the ADC Primary Election Committee, Prof. Patrick Sambo Williams, commended party members, delegates, and aspirants for what he described as a peaceful and transparent exercise.

Williams stated that the party provided a level playing field for all aspirants in line with the ADC constitution and electoral guidelines.

According to the results announced by the committee, Ogboru polled 38,151 votes to defeat Unuafe, who secured 1,182 votes.

“Having scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the primary election, Chief Great Ogboru is hereby declared the winner of the ADC governorship primary election,” Williams declared.

He noted that the conduct of the primaries reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy, fairness, and transparency. He further stated that the successful completion of the exercise demonstrated the readiness and unity of the ADC ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Delta State.

Williams urged all aspirants and supporters of the party to close ranks and work together for the collective interest of the ADC, stressing that political contests should not divide members.

He also appreciated members of the election committee, security agencies, delegates, and party faithful for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

Following the announcement, supporters of Ogboru celebrated at the party secretariat, expressing confidence that the ADC would emerge as a formidable force in the 2027 governorship race in Delta State.
