The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Delta State Wing, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for approving enhanced career progression for university graduate teachers in the state’s public primary schools, describing the decision as a landmark achievement for teachers’ welfare and the education sector.
The union said the governor’s approval has resolved a long-standing challenge that had hindered the career advancement of graduate teachers within the public primary school system, adding that the policy would significantly improve morale and enhance service delivery in schools across the state.
In a letter jointly signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Poubeni Dickson, and the Assistant Secretary-General, Comrade Dan Basime, the union lauded Governor Oborevwori for what it described as another demonstration of his administration’s commitment to rewarding professionalism and investing in quality education.
According to the NUT, the enhanced career progression policy will elevate the professional status of graduate teachers, provide greater motivation, and inspire increased dedication to duty, ultimately leading to improved learning outcomes for pupils in public primary schools.
The union expressed confidence that teachers across the state would reciprocate the governor’s gesture with renewed commitment, increased productivity, and sustained professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
It also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Oborevwori administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, expressing optimism that the governor would continue to implement people-oriented policies aimed at advancing educational development and improving workers’ welfare.
The NUT further thanked Governor Oborevwori for what it described as another clear demonstration of his teacher-friendly leadership, while praying for greater success as his administration continues to implement reforms geared toward transforming Delta State’s education sector and overall development.
