Delta Sports Commission Chairman Meets Team Nigeria Athletes in Scotland
The Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission (DSC), Onoriode Oborevwori, has met with Delta-born athletes representing Nigeria at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Scotland, commending their performances and urging them to maintain their momentum throughout the competition.

During the meeting, Oborevwori praised the athletes for their dedication, discipline and determination, describing their performances in the early stages of the competition as commendable.
“You have shown great determination and pride while representing Delta State and Nigeria. Your performance so far is impressive, and we are confident you will achieve even greater success,” he told the athletes.
The DSC Chairman encouraged the athletes to remain focused and resilient as the competition progresses, reminding them that they carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians.
“Stay committed, remain disciplined, and keep pushing your limits. The entire state is proud of you and firmly behind you,” he said.
Oborevwori also reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s commitment to sports development, highlighting the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as one that places a high premium on nurturing sporting talents.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori remains committed to investing in modern sporting facilities, athlete training and welfare programmes to ensure Delta State retains its position as one of Nigeria’s leading sports hubs.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is deeply committed to sports development. His administration will continue to invest in facilities, training and athlete welfare to ensure Delta remains a powerhouse in Nigerian sports,” he said.
The chairman further assured the athletes of the state’s continued support, stressing that sports remain a strategic platform for youth empowerment, talent development and international recognition.
“We will continue to create opportunities for our athletes to thrive and compete at the highest level. Delta State will not relent in its efforts to build champions,” he added.
The visit renewed the Delta State Government’s continued investment in sports excellence and its determination to inspire athletes to achieve success on the global stage while bringing honour to both the state and Nigeria.
