The leadership of the Egbura people in the diaspora has raised concern over unconfirmed reports circulating on social media about an alleged plan to create an additional Hausa Liman Chiefdom in Toto town, Nasarawa State.

Speaking from London on Tuesday, Egbura diaspora leader Alhaji Umaru Sa’ed described the reports as disturbing, while calling on traditional and political leaders in the area to seek clarification from the appropriate authorities.

Toto town is currently under the traditional authority of Ohinoyi Ogye, HRH Muhammad Umar Azaki.

Sa’ed appealed to Egbura stakeholders to engage the Nasarawa State Government and State House of Assembly over the alleged development, stressing the need for peace, unity and consultation among communities.

He specifically called on HRM. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi of Opanda Kingdom, HRM (Dr.) Saidu Akawu Salihu of Igu Kontonkarfe Kingdom and HRM Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, Ona of Abaji, to intervene and help clarify the situation.

“Our attention has been drawn to this latest and sad development happening in our land. For those doing this, God will punish them if they don’t repent,” he said.

The Egbura leader urged residents to remain peaceful and united to ensure the invaders do not succeed in their evil plan.
