Ex Kwara PDP Guber Candidate Joins APC, Backs Tinubu

A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara state, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim, has formally announced his defection from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that he explained that his decision is driven by a sense of duty to the nation and a desire to contribute to national development.

Ajia made his move public in a statement released on Monday in Ilorin.

He said the decision followed months of careful reflection, discussions with stakeholders, and consideration of the country’s political and security situation.

He noted that his goal has always been to use his influence to improve the lives of Nigerians, a principle that has guided his work in business and politics.

Ajia said his choice of APC came after reviewing the platforms of several parties in the country.

The former House of Representatives aspirant praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent appointments in the security sector, which he believes signal a commitment to addressing national security issues.

He stressed that tackling insecurity requires both professional leadership and meaningful engagement with communities, especially the youth.

Ajia emphasized that his defection is not linked to any personal political ambition or government position.

Since leaving the Nigeria Police Force in 2017, he said, he has not sought or held any official appointment, instead continuing to serve the country in other ways.

He pledged to support efforts to fight insurgency and insecurity, offering his expertise, experience, and grassroots connections to strengthen ongoing national security initiatives.
