By Our Reporter

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has inaugurated a 223-unit housing estate in Abuja, known as FHA Green City, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda (RHA) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at providing affordable and livable housing for Nigerians.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Wasa District of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), covered a five-hectare expanse of land. The project is being developed in partnership with Green Pasture Homes, an indigenous real estate developer.

Addressing the gathering, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to expanding housing development across the Federal Capital Territory and the 36 states of the federation to provide decent and affordable homes for Nigerians.

Ojo said the authority would continue to initiate new housing projects while completing inherited ones. He cited the inauguration of the Ajoda Housing Estate in Ibadan and the Express View Housing Estate in Abuja among key projects delivered under his leadership.

He noted that the new estate has been designed with modern infrastructure and essential amenities, including schools, security facilities, shopping complexes, and sporting arenas, to ensure a secure and comfortable living environment for residents.

According to him, construction of Renewed Hope Agenda housing estates has already commenced in several states, with plans to extend the initiative nationwide.

“This project comprises 223 units of various house types carefully designed to meet contemporary housing needs while ensuring comfort, functionality, security, and environmental sustainability,” he said.

He explained that the estate consists of 80 units of two-bedroom flats, 56 units of three-bedroom flats, 35 units of three-bedroom terrace duplexes, and 45 units of four-bedroom terrace duplexes.

“Upon completion, the estate will stand as a model residential community reflecting the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which prioritises housing as a critical component of national development,” he added.

The housing project is designed to cater to various categories of residents, including middle- and high-income earners.

The FHA Managing Director was represented at the event by Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok, Executive Director of Estate Services.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, assured Nigerians that the current administration remains committed to providing affordable and accessible housing for all citizens, irrespective of social or ethnic background.

Highlights of the event included the symbolic foundation-laying ceremony for the new estate in Wasa District, Abuja.
