The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the ruling party now enjoys a strong youth presence across the country, noting that nearly half of its membership falls within the 18–35 age bracket.

Naija News reports that Yilwatda disclosed this while speaking on TVC Sunday Politics, where he highlighted the party’s growing appeal among young Nigerians and its ongoing membership expansion drive.

According to him, recent internal data shows that youths constitute 49.8 per cent of registered members of the party.

He said, “About 49.8% of our members, as of yesterday, are between the ages of 18 and 35.

“Our party is youthful, unlike before when we were deceived into thinking that most of the youths were with certain individuals.

“Now, we have proven to the world that most of the youths are with the APC.”

Yilwatda maintained that the party’s structure and programmes were increasingly attracting young Nigerians who are eager to participate in governance and political processes.

The APC chairman also reiterated the party’s ambition to significantly expand its membership base, revealing that it is targeting 20 million members nationwide.

He explained that the ongoing electronic registration exercise had already recorded substantial progress, bringing the party closer to that goal.

“Earlier, we set a target of 20 million members, and we are already approaching 12 million members in our current e-registration drive,” the APC Chairman added.

Yilwatda expressed optimism that the initiative would strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and consolidate its support ahead of future electoral contests.
