Nasarawa Facebook Drama: Female Good Governance Advocate Zaliha Ibrahim Mocks ‘Online Guber Candidate’ Umar Ayuba Over Criticism of Gov. Sule’s China Trip

By Our Correspondent

A fresh round of political banter has erupted on social media in Nasarawa State after a young female good governance advocate, Ambassador Abdullahi Zaliha Ibrahim, fired back at African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dr. Umar Ayuba, over his criticism of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s official trip to China.

The exchange, which has generated reactions among political supoorters online, began after Dr. Ayuba questioned the Governor’s overseas trip, suggesting that the state had been left without leadership.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday morning, the ADC stalwart wrote:
“Once again, Sule is in China, accompanied by his Accountant General and the Secretary to the State Government, effectively leaving the already self-operating government without any leadership. What a government!”

Dr. Ayuba, a frequent critic of the Sule administration, has consistently used social media to question government policies and activities.

However, Ambassador Zaliha Ibrahim wasted no time responding, delivering a special rebuttal that quickly attracted attention across Facebook.

Mockingly referring to Ayuba as an “Online Governorship Candidate,” she argued that his criticism reflected a misunderstanding of how government functions.

According to her, Governor Abdullahi Sule was elected alongside his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who remains in charge of state affairs whenever the Governor is away on official assignments.

She suggested that Governor Sule’s movements should not be a source of anxiety for political opponents, insisting that governance continues uninterrupted.

In a statement laced with humour and political jabs, the advocate wrote:
“Good morning our online guber candidate. In this era? As a strategic leader like GAAS, you are wasting time following his activities. He’s not someone you can catch with unnecessary errors. The Deputy Governor is acting in the Governor’s absence, or do you have a problem with that?

“I thought you had entered the lagoon near your community. GAAS has exceeded all expectations.

“Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada is coming to take over, In Shaa Allah. This wailing contract you have signed is for eternity. Have a nice day ahead.”

Her remarks have since sparked mixed reactions, with supporters of both political camps engaging in spirited exchanges in the comment sections.

Governor Abdullahi Sule is currently on an official trip to China, a visit believed to be aimed at attracting investment and strengthening development partnerships for Nasarawa State.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, social media continues to serve as a battleground where supporters and critics of various political actors exchange sharp opinions, satire and campaign narratives.
