Nasarawa: Probe Me Now, Gov. Sule Dares Critics Over Allegations

Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has challenged those calling for a probe of his administration to initiate an immediate investigation, dismissing allegations against his government as baseless.

The governor made the remarks on Tuesday during an endorsement meeting with various trade unions at the Government House parade ground in Lafia.

Reacting to claims circulating in some quarters, Sule said he had deliberately ignored what he described as unfounded accusations, stressing that governance should not be distracted by unverified social media narratives.

“I have refrained from reacting to baseless allegations circulating on social media. If I focused on such distractions, I wouldn’t have achieved what we have so far,” he said.

He urged anyone with credible information regarding the state’s finances to push for an immediate investigation, warning that failure to do so would amount to spreading falsehood.

“Anyone who believes they understand how state funds are being appropriated should call for an investigation now, not later. Governors’ immunity covers prosecution, not investigation. I am aware that some governors are currently under investigation. So, those with facts should act now or desist from making unfounded claims,” he added.

Governor Sule’s comments followed allegations by a former Accountant-General of the state and an aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), who claimed that Nasarawa State receives over ₦18 billion monthly in federal allocation and called on the public to demand accountability on how the funds are managed.

The governor also expressed appreciation to leaders of transport unions, traders, and marketers’ groups for their continued support of government policies and programmes.

He noted that their endorsement of his administration’s direction reinforces confidence in the government’s vision, adding that it reflects growing acceptance of the “Muje Maha” agenda.

Sule further hinted at political continuity, expressing optimism that, “Insha Allah, Ahmed Wadada will emerge as the next governor of the state in 2027.

In his remarks, the state chairman of the APC, Aliyu Bello, commended the union leaders for their support and alignment with government policies.

Earlier, leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Traders and Marketers Association in the state, including Alhaji Mohammed Markwarya and Aliyu Musa, disclosed that no fewer than 15 unions across Nasarawa had unanimously endorsed the state preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
