Nasarawa SSG Accused of Snatching APC Governorship Primary Materials in Toto

Pandemonium reportedly broke out in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Thursday following allegations that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, was involved in the alleged seizure of electoral materials meant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

According to reports, the electoral materials had arrived in Toto and were placed under the supervision of the Divisional Police Headquarters in the area before the incident occurred.

Sources alleged that the SSG, who feared the exercise might not favour his camp.

The sources further claimed that he had assured key stakeholders, including Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and Governor Abdullahi Sule, of delivering victory in the local government area alone without involving other leaders.

On getting to Toto, Magaji swallowed his vomit and held meeting with some stakeholders on same election he lied he can do it alone.

The development has led to serious division from some party members in Toto, who accused the SSG of failing to attract meaningful development to the area despite serving in government since his tenure as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General before his appointment as SSG.

It was further alleged that after the incident, Magaji travelled to Lafia where he reportedly claimed that hoodlums attacked him on his way to a polling unit in Toto. However, sources maintained that there was no evidence that any primary election took place in the area.

Reports from across the 12 electoral wards in Toto Local Government Area indicated that no governorship primary election was conducted, a situation party members described as being contrary to APC electoral guidelines.

Meanwhile, security sources disclosed that some persons allegedly linked to the incident had been arrested, while law enforcement agencies were said to be trailing other suspects connected to the alleged disruption of the exercise.

Reacting to the controversy, the Wadada Campaign Organisation distanced itself from the alleged actions of the SSG, stating that such conduct was not part of its campaign strategy.

The organisation also cautioned party members against actions capable of causing disunity within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
