A fresh political controversy has erupted within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos, following demands by party stakeholders for clarification over the party’s House of Representatives ticket.
The stakeholders, in an open letter addressed to Senator Seriake Dickson, national leader of the NDC, claimed that Hon. Ife Salako won the Alimosho primary with 634 votes, while Toyin Omolabake allegedly secured six votes.
The group is now questioning why Salako’s reported victory is not being reflected in the ticket.
The controversy has prompted the stakeholders to ask a blunt question: “Where is our mandate?”
Group Demands Investigation
The concerned members and supporters said they expected the party leadership to respect the outcome of its internal electoral process.
They called on Senator Dickson to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported alteration or replacement of the primary outcome.
Among the questions they want answered are who authorised the alleged change, what provision of the party’s rules was invoked and what happened to the reported primary result.
The group also mentioned Mr. John Ughulu and others in connection with the controversy, but its claims remain allegations requiring verification by the relevant party authorities.
“We Are Not Asking for a Favour”
The stakeholders insisted that their demand was not for preferential treatment.
“We are not asking for an advantage; we are asking for justice,” the group said in its letter.
They also recalled statements attributed to Senator Dickson before the primaries, when he reportedly assured aspirants of equal protection and called for free and fair elections.
The group said the NDC’s handling of the Alimosho dispute would be an important test of its commitment to internal democracy.

The letter was also copied to Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and members of the NDC National Executive.
The stakeholders appealed to the national leadership to resolve the matter and restore confidence among party members in Alimosho.
They said they would continue to demand answers until the controversy is addressed, maintaining their support for Salako’s reported primary victory.
