According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the event will take place at the Unity Hall, Old Government House, Asaba, beginning at 12:00 noon, with invited guests expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.
Ahon explained that the reception reflects the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to standing by Deltans in times of hardship, regardless of where they reside across the world.
He noted that the support package is designed to provide immediate relief to the returnees, many of whom were forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods following the xenophobic crisis in South Africa.
“The initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to cushion the immediate impact of their displacement and demonstrate its unwavering concern for the welfare and well-being of every Deltan,” the statement indicated.
The event is expected to attract top government officials, community leaders, stakeholders, and other invited guests, highlighting the state’s solidarity with citizens affected by the unfortunate incidents abroad.
The planned reception further underscores Governor Oborevwori’s people-centred approach to governance and his administration’s resolve to ensure that vulnerable Deltans receive the necessary support to reintegrate successfully into society.
