Senator Oshiomhole Denies Commenting on Delta Central APC Primary

By Our Correspondent

Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has distanced himself from a statement circulating on social media concerning the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District.

In a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Victor Oshioke, Senator Oshiomhole described as false and misleading reports claiming that he had criticized Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, over the APC primary election in Delta Central.

The viral report, titled “2027: Oshiomhole blasts Oborevwori, Sheriff for fighting Omo-Agege against choice of Urhobo”, alleged that the former governor accused the Delta State governor of participating in a conspiracy to prevent the emergence of an Urhobo man as Senate President.

However, Oshiomhole categorically denied making any such remarks, insisting that he did not issue any statement regarding the APC primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District.

The statement noted that Oshiomhole has a longstanding relationship with Ede Dafinone, dating back to his tenure as governor of Edo State, and currently serves alongside him in the Senate.

It added that Oshiomhole is fully aware that Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and Ovie Omo-Agege are all proud sons of Urhobo land.

According to the statement, Oshiomhole holds the Urhobo people in high regard and recognizes their political sophistication and capacity to determine who should represent them at all levels of government.

The former governor further revealed that following the successful conduct of the APC primary elections, he personally called Governor Oborevwori to congratulate him on the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, just as he did with several other governors across the South-South region.

Oshiomhole therefore urged bloggers, commentators, and social media users to verify facts before attributing statements to public figures.

He maintained that individuals dissatisfied with the outcome of any primary election should express their views openly rather than falsely attributing opinions to him.

Reaffirming his commitment to democratic ideals, Oshiomhole stressed that he remains a firm advocate of the principle of “One Man, One Vote” and respects the right of citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to freely choose their representatives at all levels of government.

The statement called on the public to disregard the purported comments, describing them as entirely false and malicious.
