SOS: VULTURE IN KOGI STATE (PART 1) INGRATE AND DESPERATE ALU MAN DEPLOYING DIVIDE-AND-RULE ANTICS — Kogi Titan

The corrosion of corruption, the height of lawlessness, and the shipwreck of ethical leadership in Kogi State, particularly in Yagba Federal Constituency, are second to none.

At this moment, my protest is against a dangerous political element whose actions are capable of causing serious and irreparable damage to the political landscape of Kogi State, while also creating avoidable and irreconcilable divisions within the political structures of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Why does this concern me so deeply?

My Yoruba people have a saying: “Kékéré la ti ń pẹ́ka Iroko; tó bá dàgbà tán, ẹbọ ni yóò gba.” In other words, an Iroko tree should be pruned while it is still young and tender; otherwise, when it grows too large, it becomes difficult to control.

Poor leadership—whether driven by ego, excessive control, or lack of empathy—creates toxic environments that destroy morale, weaken institutions, and stunt growth.

Among these political vultures is an individual I will continue to refer to as the “Dishonourable Alu Man.” During the 2023 campaign season, he reportedly promised to support the rotation of power to Mopamuro Local Government after completing his second term.

Today, however, he appears unwilling to honour that commitment.

Together with his loyal supporters, who seem unwilling to appreciate the historical significance and benefits of the rotational arrangement within Yagba Federal Constituency, he is on the verge of frustrating the hopes of the people and undermining a long-standing political understanding that has promoted balance and inclusion.

What many people in Yagba may not know is that the ambition of the Dishonourable Alu Man to occupy Lugard House in 2031 appears to have clouded his judgment and weakened his sense of empathy, fairness, and moral responsibility.

Chief among the weapons in his political arsenal is deception—a weapon that has the potential to destabilize not only Yagba Federal Constituency but also create ripple effects across Kogi State.

“Afẹ́fẹ́ ti fẹ́, a sì ti rí fúrò adìẹ.” The wind has blown, and the feathers of the chicken have been exposed.

It is no longer hidden, according to many observers, that the mastermind behind recurring political confusion and conflicts among politicians is the Dishonourable Alu Man.

The alleged financier of political discord that turns brothers against brothers is the Dishonourable Alu Man.

The unseen saboteur of innocent political ambitions is the Dishonourable Alu Man.

If not, why is he allegedly targeting Senator Sunday Steve Karimi through former Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro and APC Kogi West Zonal Chairman, Emmanuel Ayo?

Why does he appear determined to frustrate the political aspirations of Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho from Kogi East?

History has shown that downfall is often preceded by a refusal to heed wise counsel.

Ingratitude is one of the most destructive human traits. It blinds people to their blessings and drives away those who once stood by them. As the saying goes, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”

The message is simple: never create problems within the same environment that nurtured and supported your rise. When the consequences eventually come, there may be nowhere left to run.

It is therefore unfortunate, in my view, that a humble, selfless, and widely respected leader such as Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke would become a victim of what I consider the divisive tactics of the Dishonourable Alu Man, whose political methods often pit friends against friends and brothers against brothers, seemingly forgetting past acts of goodwill.

There is perhaps no better way to describe the relationship between Rt. Hon. James Faleke and the Dishonourable Alu Man than the classic fable of The Farmer and the Viper.

The story tells of a kind-hearted farmer who rescued a freezing snake and nursed it back to health. Once revived, the snake bit its rescuer.

As the farmer lay dying, he realized his mistake was showing compassion to a creature whose nature he failed to understand.

Sadly, it can be heartbreaking when those we empower eventually use that same power against us.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am still referring to the Dishonourable Alu Man, who reportedly failed in previous electoral attempts before eventually securing victory in the 2019 House of Representatives election for Yagba Federal Constituency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Before that victory, he had unsuccessfully contested under both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His political fortunes changed significantly when Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke entered the picture.

Rt. Hon. Faleke reportedly provided financial and political support to his House of Representatives ambition under the ADC platform, despite criticisms from some quarters.

More importantly, he made available his political structures across Yagba Federal Constituency to ensure electoral success.

Beyond that, Rt. Hon. Faleke is said to have introduced him to influential figures within the Nigerian political establishment, including Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, now Chief of Staff to the President and former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Yet, despite these opportunities and relationships, the Dishonourable Alu Man is accused of sowing discord between political allies and long-standing associates.

What he appears to have forgotten is that those who sow division often reap the consequences of the same chaos they create.

The Dishonourable Alu Man also appears to have forgotten how Rt. Hon. Faleke allegedly used his influence, experience, integrity, and commitment to fairness to enhance his relevance within the House of Representatives.

Through political support and mentorship, he reportedly rose from being a first-time lawmaker to becoming Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise Duties and subsequently Chairman of the Committee.

Rt. Hon. Faleke also introduced him to key political stakeholders and influential figures in Lagos politics, relationships that contributed significantly to his growing prominence.

One must also acknowledge the role of High Chief David Oludare Olatunde—a respected grassroots mobilizer, advocate of justice and fairness, loyal supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and a strategist with vast influence and connections.

High Chief Olatunde stood firmly behind the Dishonourable Alu Man during their 7th moments of his political journey, lending credibility, influence, and support when it mattered most.

He weathered internal opposition and stood his ground when the political pressure was at its peak.

Unfortunately, what should have been a relationship built on gratitude and mutual respect appears to have deteriorated into unnecessary conflict.

Today, the Dishonourable Alu Man is accused of boasting that he elevated individuals whose influence and accomplishments long predated his own rise to prominence.

Before I conclude, as an acclaimed church elder, I advise the Dishonourable Elder to reflect on the biblical story of Haman and Mordecai.

History, scripture, and politics all teach the same lesson: pride, ingratitude, and the pursuit of division rarely end well.

Kogi Titan
