The immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has appealed to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Toto Local Government Area to remain calm and united following the resignation of former council chairman, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas.

Tashas announced his resignation from the APC on Monday evening, triggering reactions within political circles in Toto, particularly among party members in Gadabuke Development Area, where he hails from.

Balarabe Abdullahi, while reacting to the development, said every grievance within the party could be addressed through dialogue and reconciliation.

He urged Tashas to reconsider his decision and return to the APC, stressing that the party should remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Speaker also announced that he would soon visit Gadabuke District to meet with stakeholders and party members in an effort to find a common ground.

“You cannot leave the house you build for another person to inherit,” Balarabe said.

He described APC as the political home of its members and maintained that the party’s prospects remained strong.

“APC is our home, is our party, and our victory is assured by the will of Allah. We will get there, we will deliver our LG, Insha Allah, come 2027, and victory shall be ours by His grace,” he said.

Balarabe said the party could not afford to lose members at a time preparations for the 2027 elections were gathering momentum.

“We can’t fold our hands seeing our party losing its members. We can’t fold our hands allowing our people to leave. In politics, everyone matters, grassroots matters, because politics is local,” he said.

He further urged party members to put their differences behind them and work towards a common political objective.

According to him, political disagreements should be approached through dialogue because nobody is perfect.

“Unity of purpose is paramount for the task ahead of us, and no matter what, we must unite our people,” he added.
