2027: Hon. Umar Farouk Adamu Auta Unveils Senate Manifesto for Nasarawa West

Hon. Umar Farouk Adamu Auta, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, has unveiled a comprehensive manifesto centred on inclusive development, transparent leadership and improved representation under the theme, “Building a Better Future for Every Citizen.”

In the manifesto released to the public, Auta pledged to champion policies that would improve the quality of life for residents of Nasarawa West through investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, security and grassroots participation.

He said his aspiration is driven by a commitment to provide effective, accountable and purposeful representation that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.

“My vision is to build a Nasarawa Western where every child has access to quality education, every family enjoys affordable healthcare, every youth and woman has opportunities to thrive, and every community benefits from inclusive governance,” he ststates

Education at the Centre of Development

The NDC senatorial candidate identified education as the foundation of sustainable development, promising to advocate for increased government investment in schools across the district.

He also pledged to facilitate scholarships, bursaries and educational support programmes for indigent students while supporting the construction and renovation of schools, improving access to ICT facilities and promoting digital literacy.

According to him, collaboration with development partners and educational institutions will be prioritised to improve learning outcomes and strengthen teacher capacity.

Healthcare and Social Welfare

On healthcare, Auta promised to advocate for the upgrading and equipping of Primary Healthcare Centres across the five local government areas of Nasarawa West.

He said maternal and child healthcare, periodic medical outreaches, access to essential medicines and public health awareness campaigns would receive priority attention if elected.

Youth and Women Empowerment

Recognising the role of young people in economic development, the senate hopeful pledged to promote entrepreneurship, vocational training, ICT education and access to grants and business support programmes.

He also promised to encourage modern agriculture and agribusiness as viable employment opportunities for youths.4

For women, Auta said he would support vocational training, facilitate access to microfinance and advocate for greater participation of women in leadership and governance while promoting maternal healthcare and girls’ education.

Infrastructure and Agricultural Development

The manifesto also outlines plans to advocate for improved road networks, stable electricity supply, access to clean water, rural infrastructure and better internet connectivity across Nasarawa West.

In the agricultural sector, Auta pledged to support farmers through improved access to fertilisers, quality seedlings, irrigation projects, extension services, agricultural financing and agro-processing initiatives aimed at boosting productivity and rural incomes.

Security and Good Governance

The NDC candidate identified peace and security as critical pillars of development, promising to support community-based peacebuilding initiatives and advocate for improved security infrastructure and collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions.

He also promised to maintain an open-door policy, hold regular consultations with constituents and ensure transparency and accountability in constituency projects and legislative engagements.

Community Reorientation Committee

One of the key highlights of the manifesto is the proposed establishment of a Community Reorientation Committee (CRC).

According to Auta, the committee will serve as a grassroots platform for public enlightenment, community engagement and participatory development across the five local government areas of Nasarawa West.

He explained that CRC structures would be established in every ward to identify community needs, promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen communication between constituents and elected representatives, monitor constituency projects and encourage civic responsibility.
