The 2027 political campaign ahead of the Nasarawa State governorship election has recorded another development with the appointment of Yahaya Idris Toto as Head of Media and Publicity of the Ahmed Aliyu Wadada Project Campaign Council in Toto Local Government Area.

The appointment, announced on Friday, August 21, 2026, is expected to give the campaign council a stronger communication structure as political activities gather momentum across Nasarawa State.

Under the new responsibility, Yahaya Idris Toto is expected to coordinate the council’s media and publicity activities, strategic communication and grassroots messaging in Toto Local Government.

Shege Explains Appointment

According to Shege, the appointment was based on Yahaya Idris Toto’s professional experience, commitment, expertise and understanding of the evolving attention economy.

He said the media professional would be expected to use his strategic communication experience to expand the campaign’s reach and effectively communicate its programmes and messages to the electorate.

“The choice of Yahaya Idris Toto as Head of Media for Toto LG was based on merit, commitment, expertise and his ability to bring his wealth of experience in the attention economy to bear,” Shege stated.

The coordinator said the appointment was part of the council’s efforts to establish an effective grassroots communication network ahead of the 2027 election.

Campaign Council Plans Wider Engagement

Shege disclosed that the council had commenced preparations to engage political stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, youths and other relevant groups across Toto Local Government.

He said the APC, which he described as the governing party in Toto LG, remained focused on securing victory in the 2027 elections.

The former Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor also encouraged Nigerians who have attained the voting age of 18 to participate in the electoral process.

He described Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the best governorship candidate for Nasarawa State and said his candidacy was “sellable” to voters.

The development comes as political parties and campaign structures intensify preparations for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship contest.
