Traditional ruler explains why Agidingbi outreach is different from campaign activities
The APC Youth Network West Africa has rejected claims that its ongoing community outreach programme in Lagos is politically motivated, insisting that the initiative predates the current election season.
The organisation made the clarification after completing the eighth consecutive week of its weekly humanitarian outreach at its secretariat in Agidingbi, Ikeja.

More than 1,000 beneficiaries have reportedly received food items and other forms of support since the initiative commenced.
The outreach is being spearheaded by the Director-General of the APC Youth Network West Africa, DG Olatunde Gideon Igbasan, as part of efforts to provide assistance to vulnerable residents and encourage community participation.
Speaking during the latest edition, His Royal Highness, Dr. Oluwamayowa Jose, the Alaye, responded to questions over the political timing of the programme.
The traditional ruler argued that the consistency of the initiative was evidence that it was not established merely to serve an electoral purpose.
“This outreach did not start because of any campaign,” he said. “It has been ongoing for weeks, and today marks the eighth week.”
According to him, the objective remains straightforward: supporting people, giving back to society and bringing relief to those in need.
He further warned against interpreting every act of community service through a political lens, maintaining that charity and social responsibility should transcend political affiliations.
The latest edition drew hundreds of residents to the organisation’s secretariat, where volunteers coordinated the distribution of food and other assistance.
The organisers said the increasing number of participants every week demonstrates the need for sustained grassroots support amid economic challenges confronting many households.
Beyond the distribution of food items, the programme is also intended to promote a culture of volunteerism and compassion among young people.
The APC Youth Network West Africa said it plans to continue the weekly intervention and expand its reach to more communities.
The development comes at a time when political activities are gradually intensifying, making the organisation’s insistence that the programme is humanitarian rather than campaign-driven likely to attract further public attention.
