Patients, women and children receive attention as campaign council members discuss healthcare support and family welfare.
The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has visited two hospitals in Kaduna State in a community outreach aimed at engaging patients and highlighting support for vulnerable Nigerians.
The delegation, led by Dr Betta Edu, visited Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dansoho Memorial Hospital as part of activities ahead of a planned campaign rally.
The outreach followed a directive attributed to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who asked the team to reach out to women and children in hospitals across Kaduna before the rally.
The team included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Senator Olujumi, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon. Ada Ode and Hon. Gloria Akobundu, alongside other Directorate members. The Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu, was also present.
During the visits, the delegation interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators, conveying a message of encouragement and drawing attention to the challenges faced by people seeking medical care.
Edu used the occasion to discuss healthcare initiatives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the administration was pursuing reforms to make medical services more affordable.
She referred to maternal healthcare assistance in selected hospitals, including support for deliveries, Caesarean sections and medicines. She also highlighted interventions intended to reduce the cost of renal dialysis and cancer treatment.
The former minister praised the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative for supporting midwives’ training and equipment, saying stronger maternal healthcare services were important to efforts aimed at reducing maternal mortality.
The outreach also touched on education and household finances. Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for student financing support under NELFUND, which they said had helped ease the financial pressure on families with children in school.
Beneficiaries thanked the President, the First Lady and the visiting team for the gesture. Some also expressed support for the continuation of maternal healthcare interventions.
According to the Directorate, the programme formed part of a wider grassroots engagement effort designed to bring its activities closer to communities and draw attention to policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Kaduna visits combined humanitarian engagement with campaign-related public outreach, placing the welfare of patients, women, children and vulnerable households at the centre of the programme.
The Directorate said it would continue to emphasise direct community engagement as part of its activities ahead of the planned rally.
