The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori for establishing a US$100 million (approximately ₦1.4 trillion) Viability Gap Fund, describing the initiative as a bold economic policy capable of attracting strategic investments, boosting investor confidence and accelerating sustainable development across the state.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., on Monday, the APC described the fund as a visionary intervention that demonstrates the governor’s commitment to building a resilient and globally competitive economy.

According to the party, the Viability Gap Fund will serve as a strategic instrument to de-risk major investments, encourage private sector participation and create an enabling environment for both local and foreign investors seeking opportunities in Delta State.
The APC noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while complementing Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, aimed at driving inclusive economic growth, expanding infrastructure and promoting sustainable development.
“The establishment of the Viability Gap Fund reflects a deep understanding of modern economic realities. By reducing investment risks and improving the bankability of strategic projects, Delta State has sent a strong message that it is ready to partner with the private sector in delivering world-class infrastructure and long-term economic prosperity,” the statement read.
The party expressed optimism that the fund would unlock significant investment opportunities in key sectors of the state’s economy, including infrastructure, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, technology, tourism, housing, transportation and the blue economy.
It further stated that successful implementation of the initiative would stimulate economic activities, generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, empower entrepreneurs, improve productivity, expand the state’s revenue base and enhance the standard of living of residents.
The APC also said the policy reinforces Delta State’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations, positioning it as a preferred hub for commerce, industrialisation and enterprise within the Niger Delta region.
Reaffirming its support for the governor’s economic reforms, the party pledged to continue backing programmes and policies that promote economic prosperity, infrastructure renewal, social inclusion and improved welfare for the people of Delta State.
The statement emphasised that with prudent management, transparency, accountability and effective implementation, the Viability Gap Fund has the potential to attract strategic partnerships, fast-track high-impact projects and deliver lasting dividends of democracy across Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts.
The APC further congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the successful opening of the three-day Delta State Economic Summit, describing the launch of the US$100 million Viability Gap Fund as another demonstration of visionary leadership and economic foresight.
The party called on development partners, investors, financial institutions and the organised private sector to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the initiative to support the state’s economic transformation.
It expressed confidence that under the combined vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the M.O.R.E. Agenda, Delta State remains on course towards greater prosperity, accelerated development and sustainable economic growth.
