Fidelity Bank Feeds Over 1,000 Vulnerable Residents in Kogi, Urges More Corporate Support

Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility by distributing food items to more than 1,000 vulnerable residents in Kogi State while urging individuals, philanthropists and corporate organisations to intensify efforts aimed at reducing hunger and poverty across Nigeria.

The Branch Leader of Fidelity Bank Plc, Lokoja Branch, Mr. Nuhu Omale, made the appeal during the distribution of relief materials under the bank’s nationwide Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, describing the programme as part of the bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

According to Omale, the initiative complements government efforts to address food insecurity through strategic partnerships and sustainable community-based interventions.

He disclosed that the programme, implemented in collaboration with the Kogi State Government, has already benefited over 1,000 vulnerable residents in the state and is currently being replicated across Nigeria’s 36 states.

“The Fidelity Food Bank Initiative reflects our commitment to giving back to society by ensuring that vulnerable households receive much-needed support, particularly during these challenging economic times,” he said.

Omale commended the recent inauguration of the North Central Food Bank Initiative by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Kogi State, describing it as a commendable intervention in the fight against hunger, food insecurity and poverty.

He urged affluent Nigerians, charitable organisations and corporate institutions to complement government efforts by initiating programmes that improve the welfare of vulnerable citizens.

Fidelity Bank Expands Financial Inclusion Through SME and Women Empowerment

Beyond food assistance, Omale said Fidelity Bank continues to empower entrepreneurs through affordable financing for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), offering flexible loan packages with little or no collateral requirements.

He highlighted the bank’s Fund Her Initiative, a women-focused empowerment programme designed to provide financial support to female entrepreneurs, helping them establish and grow sustainable businesses.

According to him, the bank also provides beneficiaries with income-generating equipment such as sewing machines, grinding machines and other productive tools to promote self-reliance and economic independence.

Beneficiaries Applaud Fidelity Bank’s Intervention

Some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Ileasu Barakat and Miss Onimisi Joy, expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for the timely intervention.

They described the programme as life-changing, noting that the food support would ease the hardship faced by many vulnerable families.

The beneficiaries also pledged to take advantage of Fidelity Bank’s financial literacy programmes, savings opportunities and empowerment initiatives to improve their livelihoods and achieve greater financial stability.

The Fidelity Food Bank Initiative remains one of the bank’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes aimed at tackling hunger, promoting financial inclusion and supporting sustainable development in communities across Nigeria.
