“I’ve Never Smoked in My Life, It Was an Electric Cigar” — Ojude Oba Viral Woman, Oluwatoyin Olushile Speaks

A woman who became the subject of widespread social media discussions following her appearance at the recently concluded Ojude Oba cultural festival has broken her silence, insisting that she has never smoked in her life and was wrongly judged based on a viral video clip.

The woman, identified as Oluwatoyin Olushile, said she felt compelled to address the growing controversy surrounding a video that captured her holding what many online users assumed was a conventional cigarette during the annual celebration.

Speaking on the matter, Olushile explained that she is a resident of New York City in the United States, where she works as a manager at a post office. 

She maintained that the object she was seen holding was not a traditional cigarette but an electronic cigar containing vapor.

“My name is Oluwatoyin Olushile. I’m from New York City. I work as a manager in the post office in New York City. I’ve never smoked in my life. What I held that day is an electric cigar and what’s inside was a vapor, no smell or nothing,” she stated.

According to her, she has never been involved in smoking and has no history of tobacco use. 

She described the device as an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette), noting that it differs significantly from conventional cigarettes and was manufactured in the United States by a friend.

Olushile expressed disappointment over what she described as premature judgments from members of the public who reacted to the viral clip without seeking clarification.

“I have never smoked in my life. People are judging me without understanding what they saw. I’m an intelligent and educated woman, and I don’t think people should judge a book by its cover,” she said.

She further argued that many social media users rushed to conclusions based on a brief video snippet, stressing that the context surrounding the moment was largely ignored.

The viral clip, which circulated widely across various social media platforms, generated mixed reactions, with some users criticizing her actions while others defended her right to personal choices. 

The debate quickly evolved into a broader conversation about cultural expectations, public image, and personal freedom.

Responding to the criticisms, Olushile maintained that she was simply expressing herself and doing something different, emphasizing that appearances can sometimes be misleading.

She urged people to avoid making assumptions about others based solely on photographs, short videos, or isolated moments shared online.
