….Consensus Will Not Stand If Opposed by Aspirants, Says APC Governorship Aspirant

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Mohammed Adamu, has declared that the era of manipulation through indirect primaries in the state is over, assuring party members of a transparent and credible electoral process.

Adamu, who spoke while addressing party stakeholders, dismissed the notion of zoning in the state, insisting that the governorship contest should remain open to all qualified aspirants.

According to him, although the incumbent governor has expressed support for a candidate from Nasarawa West, other zones, particularly Nasarawa South, are advocating for an open contest.

“There is nothing like zoning in Nasarawa. While the governor, in his wisdom, wants to support somebody from Nasarawa West, and he has a right to do so, my zone, Nasarawa South, is also saying it should be left open,” he said.

The aspirant noted that he has toured all the 147 wards across the state, engaging with grassroots stakeholders and identifying their challenges, adding that his campaign is focused on collective progress.

“I have gone round the 147 wards in the state, seen their problems, and told them let us work together and focus on Nasarawa State. Nobody can beat me,” he added.

Adamu further alleged that indirect primaries had previously been used as a tool for manipulation, but expressed confidence that such practices would no longer be tolerated.

“They manipulate through indirect primaries, but that threat has been removed. Nobody can take my delegates somewhere and compel them to vote in a particular way,” he stated.

He also rejected the idea of consensus candidacy, arguing that it would not succeed if more than one aspirant opposes it.

“Consensus will never take place in Nasarawa State when more than one person says they do not want it. We will remain vigilant to ensure that the primaries are free and fair,” Adamu said.
