Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to protect the integrity of election results as the collation of votes from the governorship election begins.
Adeleke made the appeal amid the ongoing collation of results, urging security agencies to ensure that electoral materials and results are adequately protected throughout the process.
The governor also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the final outcome of the election reflects the genuine choice of voters across the state.
“Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected!” Adeleke said, stressing the need for all stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
He urged President Tinubu to ensure that security agencies deployed for the election remain professional, neutral and committed to protecting the democratic process.
According to the governor, the credibility of the election depends not only on the conduct of voting but also on the transparency and integrity of the result collation process.
Adeleke further appealed to INEC officials to faithfully collate and announce results based on the votes cast by the people at the various polling units.
He also urged security agencies to provide adequate protection for election officials, electoral materials and collation centres to prevent any attempt to disrupt the process.

The governor’s statement comes as political parties and their supporters await the outcome of the ongoing collation.
With the final results yet to be declared, Adeleke said the will of the electorate must remain paramount and that every valid vote must be accounted for.
He called on all political actors and their supporters to remain peaceful while awaiting the official declaration by INEC.
The governor maintained that the credibility of the electoral process would be strengthened if the final result accurately reflects the choice made by Osun voters.
