Forum Says Facebook Videos Cannot Replace Direct Interaction With Electorate
The APC Elders Forum in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has challenged political appointees of Governor Abdullahi Sule to strengthen their grassroots engagement and directly interface with the electorate.
The forum made the call during a reconciliation meeting organised by the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council and represented by the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Dalami Usman Garkuwa.
The elders, led by Alhaji Musa Ozeremi, said political leaders seeking to demonstrate their capacity to deliver electoral results must establish direct relationships with voters and party members across the communities.

The forum appealed to Governor Sule to direct his key appointees to engage the electorate more closely rather than relying heavily on social media publicity.
According to the elders, political communication through Facebook and other digital platforms should not replace physical consultations with party stakeholders and the people.
The forum also commended the Toto council chairman for his reconciliation efforts, describing his inclusive approach as a positive step toward rebuilding unity within the APC.
The elders said the council chairman’s engagement with different interests had helped reduce tensions and encouraged stakeholders who had previously contemplated alternative political alignments to reconsider their positions.
They maintained that grassroots support cannot be taken for granted, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.
The forum further reminded Governor Sule and his appointees of the role grassroots party members played in previous elections.
The elders said they were among those who worked to deliver Toto Local Government for the APC in previous electoral contests, including the 2023 election.

They therefore urged government officials to respect and engage the grassroots structures that have continued to mobilise support for the ruling party.
The forum called for greater consultation, inclusiveness and physical engagement as the APC prepares for the next electoral cycle.
